Getting off of drugs and alcohol can come with discomfort and potentially dangerous withdrawal symptoms. Individuals who get off of substances on their own or who do not enter a treatment program after the fact are at an elevated risk of relapse. The role of medical detoxification or detox is to help you get off of drugs and alcohol safely with the support and supervision of trained medical staff.
Residential inpatient treatment gives you the time and space to heal and form new patterns away from everyday life triggers. In residential inpatient treatment, you eat, sleep, and live on-site. Our short-term residential treatment program consists of 35 hours of counseling per week, which includes 34 hours of group counseling and one hour of individual counseling, alongside other treatment activities. Short-term residential inpatient treatment lasts for about 30-90 days on average, but the length of your stay will depend on your unique needs.
Long-term residential inpatient treatment is an extended form of a typical residential inpatient program. Often, those in our long-term drug and alcohol rehab program stay for six months or more. Longer treatment stays are associated with positive outcomes in research and can be key for some clients, even if treatment hasn’t worked in the past. In long-term rehab, you have more time to solidify new patterns and routines, which can be a game-changer for clients with a severe or chronic relapsing addiction.
Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) combines the intensity of a residential treatment program with the independence of a traditional outpatient program. As a PHP client at our Elizabeth drug rehab center, you can expect to commute to treatment most days per week, but you’ll get the freedom of residing off-site or in our sober living apartments. Your PHP treatment schedule will consist of groups, individual therapy, and other activities.
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) offers highly flexible but structured addiction treatment. The main distinction between PHP and IOP is that IOP consists of fewer total treatment hours per week than PHP, allowing clients more time for external commitments. IOP is most suitable for those with a stable living environment who need to work, go to school, or care for their family while in treatment.
The outpatient program at SOBA NJ consists of only 1-9 treatment hours per week and is most suitable for clients who are in a stable place but are continuing to work on relapse prevention. The activities you engage in as an outpatient client will depend on your personal needs but may include groups, individual therapy, or other services.
SOBA NJ’s sober living options follow our 3-phase approach to treatment. We have a detox center for clients in our medical detox program, which provides the support and supervision necessary for clients getting off of drugs and alcohol. Once you’re ready to transfer from detox to a residential inpatient program, you’ll stay in our transitional sober living space in the same building. Clients in SOBA NJ’s outpatient programs are eligible to live in our sober living apartments if they choose.
