Residential inpatient treatment removes you from everyday life temporarily so that you can build new patterns in a substance-free setting with supervision and accountability from staff. SOBA NJ offers both short and long-term residential inpatient treatment options. 

Short-term residential treatment involves a standard treatment stay of 30-90 days. During your stay, you’ll eat, sleep, and live on-site while engaging in groups, individual therapy, and other treatment activities during the day. Residential inpatient clients at our Alpine drug rehab receive 34 hours of group counseling and one hour of individual counseling each week. 

Long-term residential treatment can last six months or more, depending on your treatment needs. Long-term rehab provides more time to solidify healthy habits and coping skills. Clients who face frequent relapse or severe addiction often benefit from long-term residential inpatient treatment, even if addiction treatment has been unsuccessful in the past.

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a form of addiction treatment in between residential inpatient services and traditional outpatient programs. Our PHP clients live at home or in our sober living apartments but commute to SOBA NJ for an intensive treatment schedule during the day, most days per week. While your treatment schedule will be more intensive in PHP than it would be as an intensive outpatient or outpatient client, you will still have the freedom of living outside of your treatment center. 

PHP can be an initial treatment option for those with a stable, substance-free living situation who need comprehensive treatment but don’t require full hospitalization. It can also be a step-down form of care for those transitioning out of a residential inpatient program who need structured support as they re-enter everyday life outside of treatment.

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) at our Alpine drug rehab center provides flexible but comprehensive addiction treatment. Like PHP, IOP can be an initial treatment option or a step-down form of care for those who have completed another program, such as residential inpatient or PHP. However, IOP consists of fewer total treatment hours per week than PHP. You may need to commute to treatment less frequently or for shorter sessions.

The lower time commitment required in IOP makes this form of care most ideal for those who need to work, go to school, or fulfill another obligation while in treatment. IOP clients still engage in individual therapy, regular groups, and other treatment services.

Our outpatient program provides highly flexible addiction and mental health treatment. Unlike IOP, our outpatient programs consist of 1-9 weekly treatment hours. By the end of an outpatient program, your treatment schedule could be as low as one hour of therapy, one day per week. 

Outpatient helps you maintain sobriety while fully involved in your daily life and is most ideal for clients who have reached a stable place in recovery but hope to gain relapse prevention skills.
