Our Drug Rehab Program

SOBA New Jersey is Here For You

We customize our addiction treatment programs for each client and their specific needs and situation. However, we always break down treatment into three phases that encourage more self-sufficient behavior at each step. These phases in the treatment journey coincide with specific levels of clinical care and case management services. Our proven process results in successful recovery for clients that follow our treatment plan.

Starting Addiction Treatment

If deemed medically necessary by our team, individuals in need of treatment must complete medical detoxification before beginning the three main phases of our program. After detox our clients get medically cleared to begin their journey through the three phases of our addiction treatment program.

Phase 1: Getting Started

In Phase 1 of our addiction treatment program, our primary focus is welcoming every new member. We help them recognize the safe, nurturing environment we have established in order to help them open up. We help our clients take a look at reality and deal with it head-on with our professional support.

Assessment and Assimilation

Phase 1 begins with assessments of a client’s immediate and long-term needs. These include Admission, Intake, Health, Bio-Psycho-Social, and Case Management Assessments. We also perform Psychiatric Assessments repeatedly throughout the treatment process. This allows us to continually evaluate any co-occurring disorders and provide the best possible care.

Phase 1 also focuses on being welcomed into the culture, also known as assimilation. This is the time our new clients become comfortable with their peers, establish their needs for treatment, attend a broad range of cultural and recreational events. This is where change begins: each client connects with new, healthy peers and role models that provide guidance to a better future. Clients can then build a new routine and a pattern of healthy decisions by working with their primary therapist in addition to their case manager to assure all their needs are being met.

Addressing Physical Health & Wellness

During Phase I of treatment, we prepare and provide our clients with all meals, which are planned exclusively for our treatment center to provide a nutritious and healthy foundation for physical recovery. We also provide resources for nutrition education, developing healthy exercise habits, and proper sleep hygiene.

At SOBA New Jersey, clients also undergo a full fitness assessment including body mass index, body fat percentages, a range of motion, and form. We address personal and recommended goals, and our trainers establish individualized exercise routines. We review performance and results and modify routines every quarter to best support our clients with their newly developed short-term and long-term goals.

Each client receives access to a world-class health and wellness facility, the RWJ Fitness & Wellness Center, the first medically-based health and wellness center in the country. Located a few blocks from our treatment center, clients can access a wide range of state-of-the-art fitness equipment including:

  • Cardio machines
  • Free weights
  • Resistance training equipment
  • Two Olympic sized indoor swimming pools
  • Jacuzzis, Saunas, and Steam Rooms

Suit Up and Show Up

We know our clients’ lives happen outside of addiction treatment. That’s why we encourage them to take steps to create a foundational network outside of their treatment that can support them while they are doing the work. This network should consist of a homegroup, a sponsor, and external 12-step meetings. Our “Suit Up and Show Up” approach is meant to reinforce that our clients are not their addiction. It shows that they are capable of living successfully in recovery and that there is a path to get back to being who they really are; that path starts here.

Phase 2: Finding Autonomy and Freedom from Addiction

At a certain point maintaining sobriety and maintaining recovery becomes as much about managing your life as it is about managing your addiction, so our focus on Phase 2 is all about helping clients reach a higher level of self-sufficiency and guide them in building the foundation for a successful future in recovery.

We support and assist our clients as they create resumes, go on job interviews, apply to schools, get back to work, and take steps to set up their future and reach their goals.

Developing Autonomy

Developing autonomy is crucial for recovery to be integrated into everyday life. In addition to clinical treatment, we help clients develop deep, essential life skills that range from doing a load of laundry to creating and sticking to a personal budget. For high-functioning addicts, we teach our clients how to integrate recovery into their everyday and professional lives.

Phase 2 also focuses on the idea of having fun in sobriety. We help our clients explore new avenues of adventure, excitement, joy, and entertainment. Developing outlets for positive experiences while in recovery is key for a successful and fulfilling sober lifestyle.

Sober Living Homes in New Jersey

During this phase of our addiction treatment program, clients get the opportunity to live in our long-term sober living facilities in order to take full advantage of our support and resources. Our sober living spaces are staffed 24 hours a day and give our clients a space conducive to living in recovery while they proceed to go back to school, get back to work, and dig into what life has to offer.

Putting in the Work in Therapy

Our therapists continue to provide emotional check-ins and care while our case managers monitor the development and strength of our clients’ recovery networks.

This external network is crucial for a successful transition back to being an active, participating member of society while living a life in recovery. Meanwhile, our support staff is ever-present as role models for clients. As the clients begin working, learning, and volunteering in the local community, our support staff members model the attire, professionalism, and behavioral habits needed to succeed. All phases of treatment maintain access to support staff 24 hours a day through their length of treatment.

Phase 3: Living Daily Life in Recovery

Phase 3 is all about transitioning out of treatment and reintegrating into a more independent situation. Clients at this phase have come to understand and firmly believe in a new, fulfilling way of life. They are willing and ready to face any and all of life’s challenges. Clients also understand that a continuous process of overcoming the challenges life poses is what it takes to lead a successful life in recovery.

Diving Deeper

At Phase 3 post-acute issues have been settled, and each member of our community has found stability and success in changing their life. Clinical therapy is now more heavily focused on addressing any ongoing issues, reaching deeper developmental progress without disturbing the balance of everyday living.

Working With Your Family

As each client approaches the end of their stay during Phase 3, the family dialogue begins about what the next steps will be. Individual family sessions with our clients’ clinical therapists can be established to accurately plan for continued growth and success beyond our program. Additionally, our Family Support Program provides healing for the family which is crucial to the recovery process of the individual.
