PHASE III: Living The Dream
A Real-World Transitional Program
By the time clients reach Phase III, living sober has become second nature and we begin introducing a new focus: their continued success and future. As our clinical team continues with drug and alcohol treatment, clients begin taking classes and working in new jobs. This is where the rubber meets the road and a true plan of action for transition to sustainable success begins.
This phase prepares them for the lifelong work that is associated with living sober. Clients who achieve this level of responsibility have a new self-acceptance. They have come to understand and firmly believe in a new, fulfilling way of life. SOBA College Recovery graduates are willing and ready to face any and all of life’s challenges. They’ve also learned that a continued process of overcoming these challenges is what it takes to lead the long and prosperous lives they desire.
PHASE III: Resources and Treatment
At this point in treatment, the post-acute issues have been settled, and each member of our community has found stability and success in changing their life. Our treatment modalities allow for the therapeutic process to grow with the individual. The clinical therapy our clients receive is now able to address some of the more ongoing issues, and reach much deeper into developmental progress without disturbing the balance of everyday living. All of the resources available continue to be implemented until the successful completion of the program and client graduation.
Every client at College Recovery is assigned a Case Manager upon arrival, and they maintain the continuity through each of the phases working closely with the same individual throughout their enrollment. Case Managers provide support and personalized guidance to each client, based on their specific working needs at each stage. Working closely with our clients and establish a plan for continued sobriety support, education goals, rebuilding of family relationships and employment opportunities that is specific to the client, Phase III Case Management provides assistance with continued success, budgeting and ultimately discharge planning. For those enrolled in school, syllabus management and time management remain the primary focus while career development and life skills practice work best for others. Through this process, we provide our clients every tool for a successful transition to their new life after graduation.
In addition to establishing education goals, academic advisement is provided from Case Managers and Clinical Therapists that help clients realize those goals. They help the client connect with or transfer to schools with great recovery programs. Our advisors also provide top down support at every level, setting our clients up with the best opportunities to realize their goals. Everything aspect is addressed from helping clients to choose essay topics and editing to accountability by tracking each client’s educational planner filled with their individual class schedule and assignments.
Personal accountability is paramount for both educational and employment success and the process begins from day one at SOBA College Recovery. While under our care, clients engage in multiple activities for work, education or volunteering. This process teaches our clients to balance a schedule, and sets them up for later opportunities; all of which are necessary for a true sober transition their new life after Graduation.
Family Support Program
The disease of drug and alcohol addiction is a damaging one. It ravages the lives of the addicts, and it harms those close to them. SOBA College Recovery provides support for the families of our clients throughout each phase of treatment. Families of clients who partake in our Family Support Program learn that their own healing process is just as important to their loved one’s recovery as the process the client undergoes. These family members who experience this transformation are filled with strength and hope. These experiences are encouraged and shared by these family members at family workshops and support groups available twice a month. As each client approaches the end of their stay during Phase III, the family dialogue begins about what the next step will be. Individual family sessions with our clients’ Clinical Therapists can be established to accurately plan for continued growth and success.
