Kimberly Mackanic, LCSW

Kimberly has worked as a Primary Therapist at SOBA College Recovery since 2015. She received her Bachelor’s Degrees in Psychology and Criminology at The College of New Jersey and later earned her Master’s in Social Work with Rutgers University. She is an EMDR-trained therapist and is in the process of completing her LCADC.
Kimberly’s professional experience includes individual and group counseling services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence in community settings, as well as to survivors of abuse at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women. It was through this work that the overlap between trauma, mental health, and substance abuse became glaringly clear, as many of her clients were in recovery due to their exposure to trauma. It was these professional experiences which motivated her to work with young adults with substance abuse problems.
In her free time, Kimberly enjoys being on performing, and has been a part of a number of college, social justice, and community theater productions. She also enjoys DIY/craft projects, traveling, and nail art.
